Roar Post 2 (Pages 61-124)

Summary

Holden is disturbed by the though of his friend Jane and Stradlater together so he wasn't able to get any sleep. He then begins to walk around town where he meets the mother of one of the students that went to Pencey prep and begins to lie toward the mother about her sons behavior and personality. Holden became close with Jane when she was younger. She was able to tell him that she was molested and it showed him how much she had trusted him.

Quote

"I hate actors. They never act like people. They just think they do" (Salinger 117).

The quotes gives a little reflection of what type of person Holden is. He dislike those who don't act like themselves but the ironic part of it was that he had lied to the parent so wasn't he acting like someone he is not. It shows signs of a bit of self hate.

Reflection

Throughout the pages we get a sense of what type of character Holden really is. It becomes quite obvious that he contradicts what he says. He also has a certain attitude toward women. He is more protective of them while he treat other guys rudely.
